The Dark Citadel has been updated and Chapter 6 is officially released!

Updates for the Dark Citadel for May!

Skill Updates

I made some improvements and changes to the game, including adding in a few new commands.

Now, you can ask for:

  1. Inventory/Character Sheet
  2. Weapons
  3. Items
  4. Skills
  5. Armor
  6. Stats
  7. Powers

Directly to hear your current list. It will report the information back to you in a simple format.

I know this was a long time in coming, but there were a couple of other changes I needed to make first to make this system possible.

Today I also finished Chapter 6. I've been working on it for a while, but it is officially released and live! My next step is going to be to go back through everything that is live so far and make little improvements. The flow, editing, and quality of it needs to be improved, and I'm going to add a few more branching paths and changes. One problem I need to address in my design is how clues function, so hopefully those will become more dynamic and change the experience more with the decisions you make.

I also introduced the account linking feature I've been planning for a while. What happens is that when you play the game, I get an assigned ID that represents you as a user, but it is device specific. What that means is if you own multiple devices, I'm going to end up having multiple characters for you. If you link your account, though, I can group all of those devices under your email address and use it to track your character instead.

If you already made an account and played the game, then the next time you log in your characters will be merged. Merging your accounts means all of your items, clues, and weapons will be combined, as well as experience and gold. What that means is if you have a level 6 character on one device and a level ten character on another, you might end up with a level 14 character. Be ready to reassign your skills, stats, and powers, but overall it will fix this problem for the long run!

A lot of these changes will happen in the back-end code and won't be something you notice right away. Especially if you haven't made it far into the game, because these changes will effect the later game more.

Another quick call out for anyone who has issues with the game, please reach out and let me know directly! I'm trying to make improvements to deliver more accurate information and help fix problems, but I need to know where issues are happening to know where to focus my attention.

I want to work on Chapters 7 and 8 next, but I also need to finish up a few other projects, so these might take a little bit longer to get done. Keep in mind, though, that replaying a chapter can alter your story completely.
