Escape

Entity offers compromise: become new beacon interface with Sarah at his side. Thomas rejects temptation and chooses to free all souls. Initiates Override Level 3 shutting down beacon completely. Millions ascend and escape. Doctor fragment dies. Stars appear for first time - real time resumes.

Thomas touches statue of Subject Zero absorbing a century of knowledge. Descends into control room beneath village - a technological facility. Confronts the Doctor, fragment of his own consciousness managing the Network. Trapped souls overwhelmingly choose release.

Thomas discovers Thorne journal revealing Helena transformation and 133 years. Thorne explains Thomas is Subject Zero - original prototype used to create the system.

Thomas crosses a bridge made of flesh that forces him to relive all 412 deaths in sequence, serving as psychological warfare. He reaches the second lighthouse and climbs toward the beacon room, hearing voices of all those he failed. At the top, he meets Helena's ghost—Thorne's wife from 1892.

Thomas enters the pale fire where the Doctor offers a final revelation: the connection between Thomas and Sarah can never be broken. If Sarah wanted, she could return through the exit and rejoin him in the Network.

The Doctor confronts Thomas in the clearing and presents an impossible choice: destroy the beacon and free all trapped souls (but lose Sarah permanently as the exit closes), or abandon the quest and accept peaceful imprisonment (but maintain the connection allowing Sarah's return).

Thomas experiences traumatic memories of Sarah's rescue and repeated deaths protecting her. Within the church, the ghost priest Marcus shows him visions of his sacrifice: freeing Sarah at the exit while remaining trapped.

Thomas discovers a petrified statue of himself in an abandoned village square—the original subject of Harrow's network experiments. He finds the prototype's journal and learns that the first checkpoint was activated centuries ago.

Thomas enters a dilapidated Victorian house and finds Charlotte again - a three-foot porcelain doll who is the Network oldest surviving subject, transformed 57 years ago.
