Wilson recovers over six weeks in Yellowknife hospital from injuries sustained fighting James Wright, undergoing brutal physical therapy with Janet Makokis and reconnecting emotionally with Emily.

Wilson mobilizes 200 hunters and soldiers for a grid search driving James to Rycon Mine. UV fog forces James from the tunnels; he emerges smoking and wounded but drains two hunters to heal. With both arms broken Wilson picks up a stake in his teeth and drives it through James heart from behind.

James heals from near-fatal wounds in an abandoned Yellowknife house, reflecting on centuries of existential weariness. He turns five new vampires in the catacombs under St Patricks church while broadcasting a false radio challenge.

Wilson devises a staged death on Highway 3 to trap James; James sees through the fake blood but walks into the ambush and escapes despite multiple wounds. Ingrid proposes using Wilson as genuine defenseless bait to lure James underground.

After the city power grid fails plunging Yellowknife into darkness, James leads a fire attack on the community center sheltering 800 civilians. Twelve die including teacher Margaret Whitehorse and eight-year-old David Clearwater.

Wilson wakes in hospital. Emily reveals she monitored his vitals every 90 minutes all night and keeps her own list of 14 dead. Yellowknife under martial law. James forces an impossible split between hospital and school; 114 die.

Wilson searches northern mining tunnels (a diversion by James) while the community center is attacked. He finds Sarah Mitchell, a newly-turned vampire used as bait, and stakes her at her own request.

Community center falls as power fails and UV batteries die. James calls a ceasefire and issues a 48-hour ultimatum. Marcus identifies the real target: 1200 civilians herded to an evacuation center by James. The hunters relocate and fortify the old Chief Beaulieu School.

James calls with an offer: leave Yellowknife or die. Hunters refuse unanimously. RCMP tactical and Canadian Armed Forces arrive as reinforcements. James launches a three-wave vampire siege on the community center. James then offers Wilson immortality; Wilson refuses.
