James calls to promise a final devastating attack. Ingrid uncovers James historical pattern of siege warfare and his extraordinary backstory—a vampire who killed his own maker in 1802. Marcus reveals James owns the hotel, making it a prepared cage.

Nine hunters breach the hotel where James allegedly hid, falling into a prepared trap. Ancient vampire Viktor kills David Reeves and injures several others before Wilson kills him with a desperate left-handed stake.

James and Katarina ambush the hunters at The Gold Range bar with six trained vampires, forcing flight to Marcus warehouse safe house. James fires the safe house, driving hunters into the open street where they kill all six vampires in brutal combat.

After fleeing James Wright, Marcus is hospitalized with a compound wrist fracture. Wilson receives a call from Ingrid Larsen promising reinforcements from Norway. Katarina Fischer, twin sister of Helena killed at Aurora, calls Emily threatening revenge and revealing she is working with James.

Wilson, Emily, and Marcus cross Yellowknife Bay to search Old Town for James Wright. They discover and kill six newly-turned vampires left as distractions, then find James Wright fortified mining headquarters displaying twelve drained victims as trophies.

POV shifts to James Wright. Already established in Yellowknife with precise knowledge of the hunters location at the Explorer Hotel, James reveals plans to Katarina Fischer - his 78-year companion turned in Vienna 1948.

Three more kills overnight before departure. A brutal four-hour drive to Yellowknife through near-mechanical failure. Meeting Marcus Chen at Javaroma coffee shop - 40 years hunting, 37 kills, partner Tommy Lin drained by James 20 years ago.

Two kills in one night 40km apart accelerate the crisis - Marie Blackwater north and a male trapper south. A carved message mocks the hunters pace. James calls Wilson personally for philosophical taunting, revealing he knows their every movement.

Investigation of the kill site reveals James has been hunting isolated newcomers outside the surveillance perimeter. Wilson and Emily track James to an abandoned oil survey station nest found still warm but vacated within the hour.
