On the night before his descent, Cael takes the midnight watch at the surface camp and watches the stars. Mira joins him with water. They discuss Sera breakdown, Cael clinical death experience, and his real fear — not dying but losing himself in the anchor.

Sera completes eleven hours of dais calibration, solving the seventh harmonic alignment problem. In the corridor afterward she breaks down, realizing she is building a coffin. Asha finds her and offers practical perspective: not a coffin but a foundation.

Cael, Mira, and Petyr find themselves trapped underground with two hundred survivors from both Karthian and Valorheim armies after fleeing the demon attack at Valtherion.

Cael spends his final days writing five farewell letters: to Daven (trust in managing normalcy), Mira (best officer acknowledgment), Sera (honoring her engineering work), Asha (hope for future expansion maps), and Kael Thorne (understanding without forgiveness).

Three hundred survivors (Karthian and Valorheim) descend into an ancient underground cavern system. They discover vast Progenitor ruins—technology and seals far predating both kingdoms.

Asha val Mechas discovers monitoring Station Fourteen has gone silent with clean cessation, not malfunction. A patrol finds shadow-ground: blackened, cold, changed soil over 200m diameter with the station itself vanished.

Sera spends two days testing every alternative to replacing the anchor—mechanical regulation, distributed intelligence, hybrid systems, consciousness enhancement—and all simulations fail.

The siege of Valtherion intensifies over multiple days. Priests perform a final ritual using raw, undisguised green demonic power. Enhanced soldiers push through the fortress defenses. As Karthians gain the inner keep, the sky tears open and demons breach reality in massive numbers.
