The Castle

Thomas confronts the Black Altar with Aldric manifesting as his human self—a grieving father, not a tyrant. Together they strike the altar: Truthseeker pierces obsidian while Aldric channels seven centuries of grief into redemptive action. The altar shatters; the curse breaks.

Thomas enters the Tomb of the Seven—a chamber holding the original seven ancient kings whose experiments launched the pattern repeated for millennia. Seven spectral figures manifest, revealing they have waited centuries for someone capable of ending the curse.

Thomas enters the catacombs lined with thousands of skulls representing millennia of failed seekers corrupted by the altar's temptation. The Architect-built cathedral chamber expands with bronze doors bearing names of cursed kings.

Thomas navigates the castle's honeycomb of secret passages designed by Aldric's paranoia. He discovers spy holes, partial collapses with skeletal remains, and Architect construction predating human civilization.

Thomas discovers a hidden armory beneath the castle's scullery containing ancient weapons and Truthseeker—a blessed blade forged by a guilt-ridden blacksmith to oppose the curse. The blacksmith's ghost appears, revealing the blade's purpose: to destroy the altar and free the cursed souls.

Thomas enters the scullery—the lowest space where the dirtiest work and hardest labor happened, where children labored and innocence was destroyed through servitude.

Thomas explores the servants quarters where commoners existed between shifts, where they briefly were humans rather than tools or property. He recognizes their humanity beyond servitude and commits to freeing all victims—until property became souls, tools became humans, and the damned became...

Thomas descends from the tower back through the castle into the servants domain—the kitchen where common people had worked and served. He understands that royalty and commoners alike were damned together by the curse, and all deserve freedom.

Thomas climbs the final steeper stairs to the tower peak—the highest point where the blood moon ritual was attempted, where transformation was performed, where damnation began. Standing where everything went wrong, he commits to remaining human whatever comes next, whatever cost is demanded.
