The Everett Exorcism

Arthur lands in Sacramento pursuing Emily Glasser, who frequents the nightclub Afterlife. Operating alone without Council resources due to his unsanctioned investigation, Arthur struggles with his infamous reputation from a cult massacre (20+ killed, 9 months prior).

Flashback four days prior to Chapter 11. Arthur confronts Council member Jun Lee in Yokohama seeking the identity of the person who betrayed his family's location to the cult. Jun reveals: Emily Glasser (Council member, Bishop Leopold Glasser's sister) is the traitor.

Morning: Niccolo tells Jackson they must leave Everett immediately, claiming Church orders (a lie). While Jackson packs, Tim Spencer and son Brad arrive to repair a church pew. Niccolo senses possession spreading through Tim. Power fails; Brad goes to basement and vanishes.

Niccolo and Jackson attend a formal dinner at Bishop Leopold Glasser's estate. Despite initial tension, the bishop proves surprisingly gracious about Jackson's earlier investigation. Over wine, Leopold reveals personal tragedy—his family died in a fire years ago and he glimpsed something demonic.

Niccolo and Jackson attend a high school baseball game to pass time before their bishop meeting, using it as cover for normal behavior per Vatican instructions.

Niccolo calls Bishop Glasser to arrange a dinner meeting, then contacts Vatican superior Father Affretti. Affretti shows unusual fear upon learning of Arthur's presence and orders immediate evacuation, scheduling an emergency flight.

Arthur Vangeest, a Church assassin from Niccolo's past, rescues him from the crawlspace. Niccolo learns Arthur is in Everett investigating his family's murderers and claims Bishop Glasser is compromised, working with a cult called the Ninth Circle.

Niccolo is sent to investigate a potential demonic possession in Everett. Upon meeting Rose Gallagher, he finds her seemingly normal, but discovers unsettling signs: hundreds of dolls in her guest room with a one-eyed doll that appears to move, and a pervasive smell of death.

The team discovers a forbidden tape containing evidence of previous exorcisms or demonic encounters. Watching the tape reveals disturbing information about the nature and history of the possession crisis in Everett, providing crucial intelligence but also psychological horror.
