Six hours into the descent, Sword-Prior Thune's brands begin flickering as concentrated boneglass absorbs their divine power. His suppressed humanity surfaces in oscillating intervals: he was a farmer with a daughter who smelled of rosemary, a wife who painted their door green.

The team descends into the mine shaft, which transitions from human-made passages to the Crucible's organic living interior at 300 paces. They encounter wall-fused demons acting as sensory nodes — eyes tracking but bodies encased in boneglass.
