The Covenant Files: Timeline & Map Reference

This is the reference page. It exists for the readers who finished The Final Covenant, came back to argue about the order of events, and want a single document they can scroll through to settle the questions. Bookmark it. Print it if you have to. It will be updated as new continuity emerges.

Series Timeline

The five books span roughly fifteen years from book one to the epilogue of book five. Below is the full chronology with the cosmic events that anchor each phase.

Pre-Series

• 1971-1974 — Joseph Kramer's father takes him to Polonus Bakery on Halsted every Sunday. His father is killed in the 1974 Cleansing.
• 1985 — Jonathan Kane begins covert protection of Nephilim from the Sword of St. Michael's extermination program. His Vatican file is flagged "doctrinally unreliable" but he is not pulled.
• 1987 — The Cleansing. Father Gabriel Torretti, Jonathan's professional partner of fifteen years, kills Jonathan at St. Bernardine's Cathedral. Jonathan dies fighting seventeen Sword operatives to consecrate the hellmouth that will, decades later, be the ritual site for the Undoing. Marcus Kane is twelve years old. He is told his father died in the line of duty.
• 1989 — Father Torretti baptizes the fourteen-year-old Joseph Kramer and names him "the boy with the steady hands." Kramer's official career inside the Sword begins.
• 2003 — Marcus Kane is defrocked from the Vatican. He has been told he is doctrinally unreliable. The truth, withheld for thirty-five more years, is that Torretti engineered the defrocking to remove him from the Sword's reach before an order to kill him came down.
• 2003-2025 — The Basement Years. Marcus runs a quiet, privately funded supernatural detective practice out of Holy Redeemer's basement in Pilsen. Detective Sarah Chen is the only law-enforcement contact who knows what he does.

Book One — Sins of the Father (Spring 2025)

Eighteen days from inciting incident to cosmic verdict. Chicago, exclusively.

• Day 1 — First Enochian victim found by Marcus and Chen behind St. Adalbert's, South Side.
• Day 2-3 — Pattern identified across four prior Enochian victims. Father Rodriguez introduces. Brimstone reveals the Ritual of Transference is being weaponized.
• Day 4 — Marcus meets Death (Ray) at The Last Hour bar, Pilsen. Father Santos found dead in Pilsen.
• Day 5 — Marcus visits Morningstar Babel & Associates, 75th floor, LaSalle Street.
• Day 6 — Wicker Park meeting with Joseph Kramer. Markowski killed at St. Alphonsus.
• Day 7-9 — Confrontation with Torretti at the Archdiocese. Visit to Lily at St. Catherine's Boarding School. Santos files recovered, partially water-damaged.
• Day 10 — Kramer's interlude at Polonus (cut from final manuscript; see Deleted Scene).
• Day 11 — Holy Name Cathedral, midnight. Kramer presents Jonathan Kane's box.
• Day 12 — St. Catherine's Chapel. Lily refuses Kramer's ritual. Kramer reveals he has marked Torretti as victim 18.
• Day 13 — Torretti found wounded at the Archdiocese. Cosmic Convergence revealed.
• Day 14-16 — Three-front attack: Sword raids, Hell's collection schedule, Heaven's verdict. Lily's stand at St. Catherine's.
• Day 17 — Cosmic Negotiation Chamber. Marcus accepts the Bridge role. Returns to his father's grave.
• Day 18 — Marcus enforces convergence limits as Bridge.

Book Two — Blood of Angels (Late Summer 2025)

Five days from inciting incident to commission formation. Chicago and suburbs.

• Day 1 — Lily reveals her Grigori heritage. Marcus learns Michael Throne is his half-brother. Marcus chooses sobriety.
• Day 1, evening — The Last Hour. Victoria Cross is revealed as Azazel — Jonathan Kane's first wife, Michael's mother.
• Day 2 — Brimstone's office (75th floor). Cardinal Rossetti meets Marcus at Holy Redeemer.
• Day 2, afternoon — Temple of Ascension, Naperville. First face-to-face meeting between Marcus and Michael Throne.
• Day 3 — Gary processing facility extraction. The Last Hour breached by the Sword. Ray ages four operatives, burning his ninety-five-year sanctuary.
• Day 3, late — Northwestern Memorial. David's death.
• Day 4 — Elevation Therapeutics raid, Evanston. Coalition meeting at Brimstone's office. Raphael deployment from Heaven. Marcus faces Raphael alone on the Temple lawn.
• Day 4, midnight — Distribution event opens at the Naperville Temple. 14,000 attend; 8,412 doses administered.
• Day 5 — The Cascade. 1,047 deaths in the burnout cascade at Grant Park. Marcus develops a cooling protocol that saves approximately 200.
• Day 6 — Phase Two press conference. Marcus announces the third-option oversight framework. The Integration Oversight Commission begins to form.
• Days 7-12 — The 72-Hour Build (extended to five days). The Commission convenes. Maya Hargrove becomes the first sustained therapeutic manifestation patient.
• Six months later — Memorial visits. Newborn daughter Rachel. Vatican archivist Gambetti calls about a pre-Nicene manuscript.

Book Three — The Judas Gospel (Spring 2026)

Roughly eleven days, plus the eleven-day accord-drafting epilogue. Chicago and surrounding region.

• Day 1 — Iscariot manuscript fragment delivered. Gambetti murdered at St. Peter's Cemetery.
• Day 2 — Chicago Theological Seminary. Thomas Iscariot identified as the last living descendant.
• Day 3 — Holy Redeemer basement. Thomas presents the four Undoing requirements: silver coins, Bridge blood, St. Bernardine's hellmouth, Lance of Longinus.
• Day 4 — Chen's betrayal discovered. David revealed alive at a Cicero facility under Dr. Lux's control.
• Day 5 — Torretti contacts Marcus from a meatpacking-district safe house. Confesses the full truth about Jonathan Kane: 15-year partnership, marriage to Azazel, the 1987 execution order, the consecration of St. Bernardine's, and the 37-year covert protection of Marcus including the engineered defrocking.
• Day 6-7 — Cicero facility raid. David extracted. Chen makes the visible costly choice.
• Day 8 — St. Bernardine's preparation. Lily experiences unexplained biological response to dimensional energy.
• Day 9 — The Undoing. Phase 1 (Confession of Judas, in Aramaic). Phase 2 (Offering of the Lance — Marcus relives Jonathan's death). Phase 3 (Bridge Blood). Christianity splits into two valid paths.
• Day 10-12 — Heaven responds. Lucifer appears as Luke Morningstar in an abandoned CTA tunnel. Most honest negotiation Marcus has had.
• Day 13 — Torretti's final confession at the hellmouth. Surrenders the Lance.
• Days 14-25 — Marcus drafts the expanded accords. Five signatures. Thomas departs.
• Two months post-Undoing — Lily reveals her pregnancy. Hope's probability signature predates Heaven and Hell.

Book Four — The End Testament (Approximately 2027)

Six hours from Hope's birth to the Void's first manifestation, then expanding outward across roughly three years. Chicago primarily.

• Months 1-9 of pregnancy — Lily's probability simulations identify Hope as structurally essential to dimensional stability. She withholds.
• Month 9, week 1 — Diplomatic notes from Heaven, Hell, and the Church arrive simultaneously. Metatron materializes in the basement.
• Month 9, week 2 — Hell's representative Brimstone presents Lucifer's mutual non-interference agreement. Torretti drives from Washington DC carrying the Lance and surrenders himself as threshold guardian.
• Day of birth, hour 1 — The Assembly convenes. Marcus opens by admitting none of them understands what Hope is.
• Day of birth, hours 2-6 — Hope is born. Each cosmic representative perceives her differently.
• Hour 6 — The Void manifests. Marcus drafts the cessation framework over six hours.
• Day after birth — Phase Six begins. Daniel Reeves becomes Case 001.
• Months 1-6 of Phase Six — Multiple cessation cases. The Sarah Mitchell precedent overrides Heaven's veto.
• Year 1 — Hope's first birthday. The Void facilitates contact with Kramer's eighteen victims in limbo. The founding injustice of the Commission is resolved.
• Year 4 — Selective dimensional thinning detected. Lily's models flag escalation.
• Year 5 — Merchandise Mart pocket collapse. Hope (5) reassembles a seven-timeline collapse.

Book Five — The Final Covenant (Roughly Year 5 through Year 13)

The longest timeline. Spans the global expansion of convergence and the transfer ceremony.

• Year 5, Month 0 — The Merchandise Mart event. Lilith manifests, claiming responsibility. The Empty Throne meeting at Liminal — Heaven, Hell, and primordial chaos in shared uncertainty.
• Year 5, Month 1 — Marcus enters St. Bernardine's, confronts Lux. Descent to the hellmouth with Torretti. Prometheus revelation — null-energy sentience.
• Year 5, Month 2 — The Covenant formed. The seven-anchor binding ritual.
• Year 5, Month 3 — Hope's fragmentation incidents at Lincoln Park School. Saul (Brother Saul, Vatican intelligence operative) identified as the Orthodoxy's human architect.
• Year 5, Month 6 — God appears as the homeless woman. Unanimous commitment to the middle path.
• Year 5, Month 8 — The Orthodoxy strikes Chicago at dawn. Marcus's counter-directive opens the binding outward. Jerusalem, Kyoto, and Istanbul bind. Four-city resonance stabilizes the Loop.
• Year 5, Month 9 — London. SPF (Stable Preservation Front). Saul defects with eleven years of fragmentation data.
• Year 7 — Annual assessment: 47 fatalities (down from 1700 in month one).
• Year 7, late — Architect attack on St. Bernardine's. Torretti dies holding the chokepoint for four seconds. Marcus flies back from Kyoto for the funeral.
• Year 8 — Summer Solstice — The Transfer Ceremony. Seven new anchors receive what the seven originals release. Marcus names the seventeen dead and the 1,047 from Grant Park.
• Year 8 — Jerusalem. Marcus visits Jonathan's grave.
• Year 13 — Epilogue. Hope (20) attends three simultaneous graduations. The bridge has held. The bridge rests.
