Desiree is a Hunter — skilled, determined, resourceful — who finds herself connected to a Vatican conspiracy that very much doesn't want her telling anyone what she knows. Hiding isn't her preference. It's her current survival strategy.

She's not running because she's afraid. She's running because she's smart enough to understand when standing still would be lethal, and patient enough to wait for the moment when running stops being the answer.

The conspiracy she's stumbled into reaches places she didn't expect it to reach. The people involved have more reach than she initially understood. And she's one of the very few who knows the shape of the thing — which makes her both valuable and extremely dangerous to certain interests. Arthur Vangeest is one of the people trying to find her.

Desiree is determined and resourceful — the kind of person who figures out the next move while most people are still processing what just happened. She's a fighter in the truest sense: not just physically capable, but strategically, emotionally, functionally.

She doesn't hide passively. She hides actively — gathering information, understanding the shape of what's hunting her, waiting for the moment to shift from survival to action. There's a patience to her that's hard-earned and completely necessary given what she's up against.

Character Arc

Desiree's journey across the second and third books is from hiding to fighting back — from someone who knows the truth and has to stay alive long enough to matter, to someone actively working against the corruption she's uncovered.

The Vatican conspiracy is bigger than any one person, and she knows it. The question is whether the truth she's carrying can actually make a difference, and what she's willing to sacrifice to find out.
