Haatim

Protagonist — World at War

He started this story as a grieving academic with a theology blog and no idea what he was walking into. In World at War, Haatim is training the next generation of Hunters — proof that the most unexpected people sometimes become exactly what the world needs.

About Haatim

Haatim wasn't supposed to end up here. Graduate degree in theology. A family with money back in India. A blog called The Hidden Lens where he wrote about religious history and conspiracy theories. He crossed paths with the Hunter world almost by accident, trailing Abigail on behalf of someone who was then murdered, and by the time he understood what was actually happening, there was no clean way back.

What he found, though, surprised him. Grief over his sister's death had left him adrift, and the Hunter world gave him something to anchor to — a purpose, a community, and a relationship with Abigail that became the emotional center of his life.

The years since haven't been easy. His father Aram sat on the Hunter Council and betrayed it, causing a massacre. Haatim almost killed him. Abigail — the person he loves most — left after confessing his feelings to her, walking away to understand what she'd become. By the time World at War begins, Haatim is still here. Still rebuilding. Training young Hunters named Petrillo and Emma, waiting for the day Abigail comes back, trying to be the person she'll want to return to.

Personality

Core Traits: More verbose than most Hunters — he thinks out loud, asks questions, and feels things deeply. He's grown considerably from the directionless academic he was at the start, developing courage and determination through experience rather than nature. Romantic and devoted in ways that make him vulnerable, but also steady in ways that matter when everything else is chaos.

Strengths: His knowledge of multiple religions and languages makes him unusually effective at exorcism. He also possesses a rare ability called channeling — a gift of divine power that lets him pray in many languages to devastating effect. He's spent years developing his combat skills and continuing to grow.

Flaws: The shadow of his father's betrayal follows him. Grief for his sister hasn't fully healed. Leadership doesn't come naturally to him, and the responsibility of training young Hunters weighs heavily.

Fears: Losing Abigail for good. Becoming like his father. Failing the students who trust him.

Character Arc

Haatim's arc is a story of transformation — from a lost academic to a committed Hunter to something approaching a leader. He earned his place in this world one brutal, confusing, often overwhelming situation at a time. World at War finds him settled but not stagnant, carrying purpose alongside longing, and holding the thread of hope that Abigail will eventually come back.

When she does, the reunion is everything the books have been building toward — and the beginning of a new chapter for both of them.
