About Jeremy

Jeremy is someone who starts out on the edges of the story — present, there, not quite an enemy. That changes. Something in him breaks, or gets broken, or gets used against him by forces larger than himself.

The trajectory from potential ally to corrupted threat isn't one that happens all at once. It accumulates. The rage that gets unleashed in The Bishop's Legacy isn't a surprise to anyone who's been paying close attention — it's the endpoint of something that started much earlier and moved in one direction.

Personality

What makes Jeremy interesting is the potential that gets subverted. He could have gone a different way. The corruption that claims him isn't random — it finds something to work with, which means there was something there to find.

The rage is real. Whatever got hold of it didn't create it from nothing. That's the horror in his story, actually. It's not that a monster arrived — it's that what was already there got turned into one.

Character Arc

Jeremy's arc is concentrated in the third book, where it reaches its most destructive point. From potential ally to threat — the journey between those two poles is what The Bishop's Legacy spends time with.

What happens to him, and what Father Niccolo Paladina and Arthur Vangeest are forced to do because of him, is one of the book's more emotionally complicated threads.
